In downtown Cochrane, Alberta, on the 3rd Avenue side of the Graham Building is a one-of-a-kind venue that offers a unique gallery experience for everyone, from the discriminating art collector to the casual daytripper. Local artist Janet B. Armstrong has created an inviting space to feature her vibrant and eclectic mix of oil and acrylic paintings. Vivid backdrops and track lighting showcase her work, but there is no aloof or presumptuous gallery atmosphere here. The sign by the door declaring "Dogs and Ice Cream Welcome" is not an affectation, but a genuine invitation to passersby who might be enjoying a treat from nearby MacKay's Ice Cream or strolling past with canine companions in tow. Vintage memorabilia, including a cherry wood bar with brass footrail, contribute to the warm, friendly ambience. Visitors to the gallery can browse the exclusive displays and watch Janet, or guest artist Carmen Miller, at work in the onsite studio. Gallery hours are: Tuesday Noon - 5:00 p.m., Wednesday thru Friday 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Sunday Noon - 4:00 p.m. Closed Monday. Commissions are welcome. Special Event painting and gift certificates are available. MC, Visa, and Debit are accepted.
